SYMPTOMS

  • Decreased muscle tone
  • Shortened arms and legs
  • Bowed legs
  • Prominent forehead
  • Spine curvatures

Achondroplasia is a genetic bone disorder that occurs in 1 of 25,000 births.

Achondroplasia is the most common type of dwarfism, it makes a child's legs or arms smaller in proportion to body size.

Achondroplasia was discovered in 1994 by Dr. John Wasmuth.

Achondroplasia is inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern. So about 80% of people with disease have average sized parents.
