CONSEQUENCES OF POVERTY

Difference between Absolute poverty and Relative poverty.

  • The absolute poverty is an standard of poverty of all the countries, and doesn't change with the time. The relative poverty is the standard of poverty related to the income of the country.

According to the World Bank, what is poverty and what is extreme poverty?

  • According to the Worldbank, poverty means “pronounced deprivation in well-being.” (Worlbank,online) Those who don´t have enough income or consumption, usually in monetary terms. To fit on poverty you had an incomes of two dollars per day and in extreme poverty less than one and a quarter dollars. Individual lacks in which the opportunity to make meaningful choices that will sustainably improve person´s life.

What is CONEVAL?

  • CONEVAL is the "Consejo Nacional de Evaluación de la Política de Desarrollo Social" and it is an autonomous public organism of the federal public administration. This organism is in charge of provide direct information about poverty in México.

According to CONEVAL, how do we measure poverty in Mexico?

  • The CONEVAL calculated the poverty in México based on updated surveys of "Expenditure at Households" made by the INEGI and from the databases of the Socioeconomic Conditions Module of the National Survey of Income.

According to CONEVAL and our government, how much population lives in poverty?

  • According to CONEVAL in the budget of 2015 they make a diagnostic of poverty in 2010 to 2012, in 2012 there waz 53.3 millions of people in poverty in México (45.5% of the total), against to 52.8 millones (46.1%) in 2010. between the years 2010-2012, la población the extreme poverty reduces from 13.0 millions of people  (11.3% del total) to 11.5 millions (9.8%).

According to Julio Boltvinik, how many people live in poverty in our country?

  • According to the method that uses to measure the poverty "Metodo de Medición Integrada de la Pobreza" the population that lives in extreme poverty was about 83%

UNEMPLOYMENT

What is unemployment?

  • Definition Unemployment: People willing to work but not presently working, to the total labour force of the country. The "unemployed" comprise all persons above a specified age who during the reference period were:  (a) "without work", that hadn't a paid employment or a self-employment;  (b) "currently available for work", were willing to accept a paid employment or a self-employment during the reference period; (c) "seeking work", had taken specific steps to seek paid employment or self-employment.

Which is the unemployment rate in Mexico and how does the government calCULATE IT?

  • In the first trimester of 2014 there was 2.5 millions of people that were un unemployment according to INEGI. The government calculates the unemployment with the surveys of the INEGi.
