  • Free choice to pray anywhere (Muezzin preferred).
  • Emphasizes closeness to god.
  • Preformed at dawn, noon, mid-afternoon, sunset, and after nightfall.
  • People of any class stand shoulder to shoulder, except for men.

ZAKAT

CHARITY

  • 2.5% of wealth goes to poor neighbors.
  • Alike charitable giving in other religions.
  • Near end of Ramadan, they remember Gabriels visit to Muhammad.
  • They believe in purification.
  • Provides assistance for different needs.

SIYAM

FASTING DURING RAMADAN

  • Fasting happens from daybreak through sunset.
  • Break their fast by eating dates and other foods.
  • Helps with self control.
  • Ramadan encourages generosity and equality.
  • Teaches about poverty.

HAJJ
