Liesel's desires at the beginning of the novel are for everything to be as it was before WWII and to learn to read.

Later, Liesel desires for unreasonable hate, death, and suffering to cease as she matures

Liesel's motives throughout the novel are her view of justice and her sympathy

For example, Liesel would befriend Max and constantly bring him gifts from the outside world to lift his spirits, because she understood Max's tough situation as a Jew in Nazi Germany. Liesel also lashed out on Frau Hermann after learning Rosa was no longer employed, because Liesel didn't think it was a fair choice due to how her family was struggling to get by.

Some of her strengths include determination, courage, and wit

Liesel's determination to read, think more critically, and help Max are clearly seen in the novel. Courage is Liesel's strength as she has shown to stand up for herself and others. Her wit is another strength because it allowed Liesel to warn her family and Max of incoming Nazis to the neighborhood, so they wouldn't get in trouble.

A weakness I've noted is her immaturity, despite maturing throughout the story

Even though Liesel is maturing, she is still a young girl, which can lead to her making immature or rash decisions. We have already seen Liesel being easily taken over by her emotions when reacting to Rosa's unemployment by Frau Hermann, "Her sadness left her and she was overwhelmed with anger" (Zusak, 270).
