  • Greek: Katholikos
  • means "universal" or "according to the whole"
  • First used by Saint Ignatius of Antioch (early second century) to describe unity of local churches under the bishop
  • One of the "marks of the Church"

CHRISTIAN

CHRISTIAN

  • Greek: "christos", meaning anointed.
  • Indicates a follower of Christ, anointed at Baptism and Confirmation
  • Acts 11:26
