  • They provide hydropower, flood control, and irrigation.

  • You need to have a permit to build, repair or remove dams.

IMPACTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Dams hold back sediment that replenishes downstream ecosystems, decreasing the fish population.

  • With the fish decrease, there are less fish to catch and sell. This affects the people who have jobs in this industry.

  • Many of the dams in Minnesota are old and unnecessary, so they need to be taken out.this results in a higher fish population.
