  • After president Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana territory he told Lewis and Clark to explore the new land

FIRST DAY OF TRAVEL

  • Lewis and Clark went to St. Louis,Mo,
  • They took four dozen ships that included men and gifts for the Native Americans

THEIR FORST INTERACTIONS

  • They first encountered the Mandas Native Americans
  • They were settling in for their first winter.

SACAGAWEA

  • At the Rocky Mountains they had met Sacagawea
  • She became their interpreter and guide.

LAND FEATURES

  • They saw the Mo river
  • Rocky Mountains
  • Black hills
  • And flatlands
