PRESENTATION OUTLINE

INDIA

In India, I would travel to New Delhi, Agra, and Jaisalmer. I would stay at each location for a total of 3 days.

Transportation
I'll be flying out of CVG on December 2nd and coming back on December 10th. For a round trip, it will cost $1,825.00 plus when I arrive to New Delhi, I'll be using a taxi for my whole trip. The total cost to go to all locations is $98.53.

Lodging
For the first 3 days/nights I'll be staying at the Hotel Star Paradise in New Delhi. Next, I'll be staying at the Hotel Zee in Agra. For my last 3 nights, I'll be staying at the Hotel Garh Jaisal Haveli in Jaisalmer . The total price for all my lodging is $171.00.

Itinerary
Day 1- Sleep in and explore the area around my hotel, then have a nice dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2- Take a taxi and go visit the historic Red Fort and go to the Puratan Restaurant to try their famous Mizo soup and Chi tea.

Day 3- Take a taxi to the Qutb Minar and go up to the highest of the 5 balconies. Then I'd go back to my hotel and start packing for my trip to Agra.

Day 4- Check in and unpack at my hotel, then I would take a taxi to the Wildlife SOS Center to assist with some projects that will help preserve India's wildlife.

Day 5- I would visit one of India's most beautiful landmarks, The Taj Mahal and spend most of my day there before going out to dinner and trying some Palak Bahji (Spicy Fried Spinach).

Day 6- On my last day in Agra, I would visit the I'timād-ud-Daulah (India's first marble tomb) and admire the rare art within it. Finally, I'd go back to my hotel and start to pack for my trip to Jaisalmer.

  • Day 7- Unpack my stuff for the last time and visit the historic Jaisalmer fort. Then go back to the hotel to make sure I get plenty of rest.
  • Day 8- I'll be on a tour to explore the Thar Desert and visit an old Indian market and see if I can find anything worth buying.
  • Day 9- I'll pack up all of my things and and grab a taxi back to New Delhi and catch my flight back to the U.S.

Food
Breakfast- The most common breakfast is idlis (steamed rice-dough pancakes), and different dips and chutneys, as well as spiced potatoes.

Lunch- Lentils often served with a mango pickle.

Dinner- Typically a vegetable curry served with rice, pickles, and occasionally spicy peppers.

All of these typically never cost over $7.00.

Tipping
When tipping in India, you should never tip above 10 percent.

Clothing
December in India is still pretty hot (typically in the 80's and 90's), but it's still conservative. I'd probably wear maxi skirts, tank tops with scarves draped over my shoulders, sandals, and gold jewelry.

Exchange Rate
You must exchange your U.S. Money for Indian Rupees, but most places will accept credit cards. 1 Indian Rupee equals 15 US cents.

Travel Documents
A passport and an Indian visa are needed to travel to India.
