Use What You Have

Make your devices work together!
Speaking of accessing...most of have smart phones and tablets and hopefully most of us have access to LCD projectors and/or LCD/LED TVs. Make sure these devices can talk to each other. This is especially helpful in catechesis when you have limited access in different classrooms (not all your catechists have computers but more than one wants to show a video etc.) It is usually just a matter of having the right cords and adapters. Terms to know are VGA, HDMI, mini HDMI, USB, Minii hdmi,

No Wifi - no problem!

Download those videos to your devices
If you minister in a parish like mine, you do not always have the best internet or wifi connection in those places where you actually meet with people. If that is the case, there are tools out there for you to work around this issue that allow you to download most videos right to your hard drive - such as You Tube Video Download Helper and the Mozilla Firefox add-on called "Download Helper". There are more out there but these are a place to start. While it does not work for all videos, it does work for a lot. This is also a great tool to make presentations more seamless and professional by inserting the videos right into Power Point, Key note, Prezi or whatever platform you use. And if you sync your devices - through the cloud or other means, you extend your equipment in more traditional catechetical settings.
