English III B

Grade Weights

  • Formative (HW, CW, small writing assignments, IXL, Quizzes): 30%
  • Summative (Tests, Essays (2), Projects): 50%
  • Final: 20%

What to bring

  •  A writing utensil and an eraser  a single-subject notebook for note taking, grammar exercises, and free writing – you will be using theses throughout the trimester.  A fully-charged iPad  The current novel or play we are reading

What to expect

  • There will be a weekly reading/ lecture quiz and a weekly vocab quiz when we are in the midst of a novel
  • There will be two major papers
  • There will be a minimum of three unit tests
  • Nightly HW: expect reading/annotating and some occasional writing responses

Turn your work in on time

  • Success, in terms of how I see it, is correlated with timeliness and respect
  • I adhere to the Mullen late work policy.
  • Papers due dates and tests are unit deadlines (paper units include any work that was required for that paper)

TURN IT IN

  • If you are unable to access Edmodo or TurnItIn to turn in an assignment, you need to email me immediately (Dickerson@mullenhigh.com) with the assignment.
  • I need proof that you had the assignment done on time.

  • Only get them out when asked
  • keep them flat on desks when taking quizzes
  • bring them to class charged
  • you'll be asked to put them on my desk if you use them innapropriately
  • I may buy a "phone tree" for you to place phones in.

Due Respect

  • You must address me in an email with a subject in the title, and with a greeting (“Dear”, “Hello”, “Greetings”, “Salutations”, “Salve”, etc.). You must sign off with a farewell, such as: “Regards”, “Best”, “Sincerely.” I will not respond to unprofessional emails.
