Week 34

FETAL DEVELOPMENT

  • The fetus is the size of a cantaloupe at about 4.75 lbs and 18 inches long.
  • Layers begin filling out to control baby's body temperature.
  • Skin is at its smoothest.
  • Central nervous system and lungs are maturing.
  • Baby is now familiar with mother's voice.

Pregnancy Development

  • Possibility of occasional blurry vision.
  • Experiences a decrease in tear production, which may cause dry, irritated eyes.

Week 35

Fetal development

  • Baby has less room to move.
  • Is at about 5.25 lbs and over 18 inches long (about the size of honeydew melon).
  • Basic physical developments are finished.
  • Kidneys are completely matured, and liver can process waste products.

Pregnancy development

  • Mother will need to pee more frequently because the baby is pushing against her bladder.
  • May experience heartburn.

week 36

fetal development

  • The baby is at 6 lbs and 18.5 inches long (about length of romaine lettuce).
  • Experiences first bowel movement, shedding body hair and vernix and swallowing them.
  • Most likely will be head down.
  • Considered "early term" after this week.

pregnancy development

  • Mother experiences hard time eating normal-sized meals.
  • Experiences less heartburn and less trouble breathing as baby goes through "lightening."
  • Walking may be more difficult as baby drops.

week 37

fetus development

  • Brain and lungs are still developing.
  • Baby is at 6 1/3 lbs and 19 inches long.

Pregnancy development

  • Braxton Hicks might occur more often.
  • Vaginal discharge increases.
  • Sleep becomes even more uncomfortable.
