PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Problems
- This accounts for fifteen percent of global greenhouse gas emissions (WWF).
- Animal population dropped
- climate change
How long has this been a problem?
human exspaction
- This started in the 1600 when we started to exspand for more room populatio grouth
- Along with idustrial boom
Who does it effect? How many?
everyone and animals
- air quality
- food souces
- water quality and location
- land erosion
What could the short term affect be
Flooding is caused because the remaining trees and vegetation are unable to soak up all the rain water
Erosion occurs because when trees are cut down the rain washes away some of the nutrients from the soil.
What is the long term effects
There is 70% to 90% biodiversity in the forest and if deforestation keeps up with the rate it is going, many plants and animals will die. Because we are destroying plants and animals we could be destroying cures and medicines to many diseases our world faces.
SOlution
- This problem could easily be fixed as a law could be passed stating if a company has the power to remove the trees then they can plant them. It takes ten trees planted to replace one full grown tree (indea). So if nations pass this law and evan take it a step further. The law would be For every tree planted fifteen trees are planted and accounted for in documentation. The planted trees can be relocated anywhere but must meet regulation and tree count.
Solution effeects
- improving air quality
- Animal population growth
- New medication from plants discovered
- Human life expediency rises
In the Rain Forests of Brazil there lives a native tribe called the Awa-Guajá. This tribe is being deeply affected by deforestation. Logging companies have been forcing them of there land and destroying there homes and ways of life.
The Awa-Guajá are a people who are very in touch with nature. So in touch that they breast feed baby monkeys with there children. It's a very unique culture that is going extinct, there are only 360 members of the tribe left. With logging companies destroying large swaths of the forest the tribe is losing food causing starvation and death.
With the Brazilian authorities not doing much to stop this more and more people will die. Until the Awa-Guajá people go completely extinct.
