THOR

NORSE GOD OF THUNDER AND THE SKY

THOR

  • Thor's parents were Odin and Fyorgyn
  • Thor was also considered a fertility God
  • His wife was the Goddess Sif who is also linked to fertility
  • Thor had a red beard and red eyes
  • He is known as the strongest of the Gods.
  • He was very good at slaying giants
  • His belt gave him twice the strength when buckled

A story of Thor is the time when his hammer got taken from him when he was sleeping. Loki the trickster turned himself into a falcon to look for Thyrm, the God of giants. He was thought to have the hammer. He told Loki that he took the hammer and hid it so nobody would ever find it. He said he would only return it if Freyja would become his bride.

Then an idea came upon them. Thor would dress up like Freyja and go to Thyrm and pretend to be her. They went over there and ate a feast and then Thyrm was ready to marry Freyja. Right as he was ready, Thor broke out of the costume and grabbed his hammer and killed Thyrm, and retained his hammer.

I can compare Thor to Popeye because they both are really strong. And like Thor can't go without his hammer, Popeye can't go without his spinach. They both would be strong without their hammer and spinach, but they would both be undeniably strong with it.
