• The story of Islam starts with Muhammad
• The story of Christianity starts with Jesus
• In the Qur'an, God had mercy on Adam and Eve, unlike God in the Bible
• Creation lasted for 2 days in the Qur'an, but it lasted for 7 days in the Bible

Purpose and Manner of the Text

Similarities

• Both Christians and Muslims use the creation story to learn how the earth came to be
• It shows believers what God had in mind for them and what their job here on earth is
• It also shows how powerful God is
• Keeps believers grounded and humble

Differences

• The purpose and theme of the creation story is the same for both religions, so there aren't any differences in this aspect of things

• Type of writing- narrative
• Stories go in chronological order
• Both stories use descriptive language
• Literary devices used: conflict, imagery

Differences

• Both included foreshadowing, but it's more evident in the Bible story
• Both stories are descriptive, but the Bible story goes into more detail of the process of creation
