Basics of Christianity

  • Christians believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God and that he died to erase mankind's sins. He is believed to come back for Judgement day.
  • Their core beliefs include love and forgiveness.
  • The holy book is the bible which is comprised of 66 books. The creation story is found in the first book, Genisis, beginign in chapter 1 verse 1.

Christian story

  • Christians believe the world was created in 7 days.
  • Man was created on the 6th day, and woman was created the same day with a rib of man
  • Adam and Eve were the first humans and who committed original sin
  • Adam and eve were tempted by Satan and exiled from the Garden of Eden
  • Story is written in verses and is used to teach christians about sin and temptation and the affects of it.

Basics of Islam

  • Muslims believe that muhammad was visited by the angel gabriel who told him the word of God.
  • They believe Muhammad was the last prophet.
  • Their core values include believing in god, his word, his angels, and in the Judgement day.
  • Their holy book is the Quran which is comprised of 114 chapters.

Islamic story

  • God said "be" and the world came into exisistence.
  • Angels created man from the surrounding dirt.
  • The angel Ilbis refused to help create man and was the one who tempted Adam and Eve.
  • Adam and eve were banished from paradise, but not considered sinners.
  • The story's purpose is to show God's mercy and forgiveness.

How Are they Similar?

  • Both tell the story of Adam and Eve
  • Strugle of temptation
  • Punished by being exiled form their paradise/garden

How Are they Different?

  • Chrisitanity believes it to be original sin, whjile Islam does not believe in sin
  • God is vengeful and punishes in christian story, while he is merciful in islam story
  • Islamic story does not give day to day description of creation like Christianity
