PRESENTATION OUTLINE

PBL-DAY 3

THE TSUNAMI

WHAT IS A TSUNAMI?

Tsunami is a Japanese word that means "harbor wave." It is a large wave caused by movements in Earth's outer layer, or crust, which move ocean water.

HOW DOES A TSUNAMI OCCUR?

Most tsunamis are caused by large earthquakes at the seafloor, when large slabs of rock are forced to move past each other suddenly causing the overlying water to move. The resulting wave moves outwards and away from this event.
