She was a child prodigy trained by her father.
Her father had lofty ambitions for her and ensured that she receive training in piano, violin, singing, theory, harmony, composition, and counterpoint from the time she was a little girl.

Robert Schumann started taking lessons from her dad.
She was obviously attracted to him and her father was worried it would distract her from her music.
Her father then decided to take her on a tour through Germany and France, spending months in Paris.
