Chinese Dynasty

A dynasty is a ruling family that has control over an area of people. One of the biggest enemy’s of the Chinese dynasty was the mongols. At one point they actually took over the Chinese dynasty and made their own.

Terraces

Terraces in China were step looking “gardens” on the side of a mountain were they grew rice. They put rocks that stick out of the walls to use as stairs to get higher onto the terrace.

Chinese Ancestor Worship

In early China, they had these tables where they put stuff of their ancestors, food, or money to worship them. If they didn’t the bad things would happen them. They also believed that dead people had two spirits. One would stay at the body and the other would go to heaven.

Confucius’ idea of filial piety

Confucius was a philosopher and a teacher that came up with the term filial piety. Filial piety means respect for elders and have good manners. He wrote this because he believed that it would create a good society.

Oracle Bones

Oracle bones were commonly turtle or ox bones that the Chinese people used to go to a fortune teller. They would ask questions and have them written on the bones and depending on the crack the bones would have , their question would either be true or not true. The writing on the Oracle bones was Shang dynasty script.

Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China was built to keep out nomads that would raid the peasants. It’s tallest height is 1,439.3m.

Ancient Chinese Silk Roads

The Silk Roads were paths that the Chinese people carried silk to Italy to sell it and get rich. The Silk Road was over 4000 miles long.
