WHAT CLIMATE PROBLEMS DID SUMERIANS FACE?

  • Hot summers
  • Little rain
  • Flooding from the two rivers
  • Few resources
  • Parched,dry land
  • 110 degree weather

They built an irrigation system containing canals, ditches, and gates. The system would redirect the flood water to the crops. The water picked up soil on the way down the mountain. That soil was used for growing crops.

Irrigation was a success

They had more than enough food in a desert. This is called surplus. As a result they could release some farmers to have other jobs.

Keeping records
They invented the bulla.
