THE AMAZON RAINFOREST

VICTORIA AMAZONICA

  • They adapt to the environment by growing thorns on their bottom leaves to protect themselves from predators.

FUN FACT!

  • It was discovered in 1801, & at the time it was named Eurgale Amazonia.
  • They grow to have a diameter of 3 to 6 feet.
  • They hold up to 30 kg.

POISON DART FROG

  • It is a carnivore.
  • The patterns on its skin is to warn predators that “I’m poisonous!”.
  • Another Way it adapts is that it’s poison can kill 10 grown men.

FUN FACT!

  • It has a life span of around 3 to 15 years.
  • It is one inch tall.

AMAZON RIVER DOLPHIN

  • The river dolphins are the worlds largest freshwater species in the world. The can grow up to 9 ft, and weigh up to 350 pounds!
  • The amazon river dolphin has small eyes. This doesn’t allow them to see very well. So they don’t use their eyes to move around but use echolocation instead. Echolocation means the sound waves that certain animals can use to communicate with their own kind.

FUN FACT!

  • The amazon river dolphin doesn’t stay one color it’s whole life. It is born grey, but the older it gets it turns pink. This is due to their skin turning more transparent, allowing the blood to show.

TOUCAN

  • Their long beaks also have helped them adapt. Even though they can fly, there are still certain spots that they can’t reach. Their long beaks help them with this problem.

  • Toucans can have different colors. They can have a greenish yellow or white.
  • Toucans can have very colorful feathers, and patterns. They can use it to their advantage. The patterns and colors of a toucan helps it camouflage with the environment.

  • The way it adapts is; its tail and arms help it climb.
  • Eats spiders nuts fruits and bird eggs.
  • It weighs up to 13.25 pounds.
  • It can grow to be as tall as 26 inches.
  • Carnivores.

  • They can blend in easily with their habitat.
  • They have an average life span of 10 years.
