CONSULTATION
Every service begins with the
client consultation. Use this time to
evaluate to make sure it is safe for
you and the client to perform the
service the client desires.
3.
DRAPING
Place clean towel around clients
neck making sure to protect
the clients skin from the cape.
Loosely place cape over client to
protect his clothing.
4.
RECLINE
Once client is properly draped,
carefully recline barber chair and
LOCK into place. Place another
towel over the clients chest for extra
protection.
5.
PREPARE FACIAL HAIR
Use a pre shave oil (optional)
and/or a shaving cream and
cover the area to be shaved
completely. Wrap face and neck
with hot towels.
6.
PREPARE FOR SHAVE

under hot towels, get a bowl of
hot water, an extra towel or two,
a new razor, and the shave cream
to be used during the shave ready.
7.
BEGIN SHAVE

Keep clients eyes covered.
Start at the neck, apply shave cream
and begin by shaving with the grain.
Continue on the rest of face.
8.
TWICE OVER?
Some clients may want you to
shave the face against the grain
for a smoother shave. Make sure
to ask the client if their skin can
handle the twice over shave.
9.
STAY SHARP!!
Be sure to change blades
at anytime during a shave
if necessary. Dull razors can
be painful to the client and
cause skin to become irritated.
10.
COOL IT DOWN.
When the shave is complete,
wrap the face and neck with a cool
towel and gently apply pressure.
Dab any excess shave cream with
the cool towel. Do not wipe face!
11.
FEEL THE BURN!
Applying after shave is the final
step in the straight razor shave.
many prefer the after shave with
alcohol which may sting a little.
