THE ORIGIN

  • First discovered in London
  • It was discovered in 1953
  • Discovered at St.Thomas Hospital

RARITY

  • This disease occurs very rarely
  • For every million people, there are 3.4 reported cases
  • This disease usually occurs in people over 40

SYMPTOMS

  • Weakness of eyes
  • Weakness of eyelids
  • Double Vision
  • Deterioration of respiratory muscles
  • Difficulty swallowing

CAUSES

  • LEMS is usually associated with lung cancer
  • Also associated with autoimmune diseases

DETECTION

  • Can be diagnosed using an electromyography

BODY AFFLICTION

  • Decreases calcium in body
  • Also affects acytocholine, but decreasing the functionality of the nerves

  • Treated with chemotherapy
  • Treated with radiation
