JIM CROW LAWS
The Jim Crow Laws were laws about segregation.
For example,they seperated the blacks and whites by using signs.
The government enforced them.

WHERE DID "JIM CROW" COME FROM?
The term Jim Crow came from an old song and dance.
The name reffered to a black character in the song.
The man who made this was a performer white man named Thomas Rice.
He made himself look black using coal and danced to the song "Jump Jim Crow".

WHAT ARE THE JIM CROW LAWS?
They were signs that reffered to segregation between whites and blacks.
The Jim Crow Laws were established between 1874 and 1975.
The Jim Crow Laws started showing up after the Civil War.
The Jim Crow Laws showed up in a lot of states but had one purpose:
To segregate African Americans from white people.

EXAMPLES
An example of the Jim Crow Laws were the signs that were put up everywhere.
They said "white only" and "black only".
Some places where this occurred are railways,restaurants,bathrooms,hospitals,
Schools,public parks,and a lot more.
Some states that had the Jim Crow Laws were Alabama,Tennessee,Florida,and Kentucky.

Places that were allowed for blacks weren't as good as the white places.
For example,the schools for blacks were small and didn't fit everyone in one classroom.
The black teachers weren't as educated as the white teachers so they didn't teach as well as them.
The white people would always get the better things and the black people would get the bad things.
6.
FALL OF THE JIM CROW LAWS
The Jim Crow Laws ended partly by marches in Washington and other states.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964,The Voting Rights Act of 1965,and The Fair Housing Act of 1968 also helped end the Jim Crow Laws.
There was also some major events that helped end the Jim Crow Laws,like the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
7.
PROTESTS
There was some protests about the Jim Crow Laws:
Montgomery Bus Boycott and the March on Washington.
Black people were also unable to vote becauss of the Jim Crow Laws.
