  • The potato blight destroyed the Irish's crops
  • Thousands of peasants were forced to migrate
  • common place to migrate was to North America
  • Most had no money, cloths, work skills.
  • Most were catholic

  • The Irish faced many hardships on there way to America.
  • One of there many hardships was the actual journey on the ships.
  • These ships were also called "coffin ships".
  • These ships got this name because of the many deaths on board.
  • Diseases, overcrowding, starvation, were the main reasons of death.
