PRESENTATION OUTLINE
EFFECTS OF PETS ON HUMANS
Purpose
The purpose of this research project is to determine the effects pets can have on human health.
Hypothesis
The researcher predicts that having pets can have a positive effect on mental and physical health.
MATERIALS
- iPad for research.
- Haiku Deck for slide show.
PROCEDURE
- Research.
- Make slide show.
RESULTS/INTERESTING FACTS
- Pets can lower cholesterol because of an increase in walking.
- When a person looks at their pet, it releases oxytocin in their brain which calms them.
- Petting pets can lower blood pressure.
- Since pets lower cholesterol, blood pressure and stress, they lower a persons risk of cardiovascular diseases.
- Petting a pet releases endorphins, which are strong, natural painkillers, into the human body which helps with chronic pain.
RESULTS CONT.
- Since animals produce lots of allergens, if someone is around animals when they are young, the animals can improve their immune system and cause the person to have less allergies.
- Having pets can help depression.
RESULTS CONT.
- Having pets can make make a person more active because they are more encouraged to walk.
- Pets can be trained to sense when your blood sugar drops.
- Pets can help bring families together.
- Pets can help boost self esteem.
Conclusion
The researcher hypothesized that the results of this research project would show that pets can have a positive impact on both a human’s physical and mental health. The research has proven the researchers hypothesis to be true.
Since pets can help relieve pain, lower cholesterol, and help make a person more fit, among other things, it shows that pets can greatly improve a human’s physical health. Because pets can help relieve depression and boost a human’s self esteem it shows that pets can have a positive impact on mental health.
If the researcher were to do this research project again, they would research the negative effects on your health that pets can have. This will allow for a comparison between the positive and negative impacts and reveal if it would be better or worse, overall, to get a pet.
