WHAT THEY ARE!

  • Adjectives are a word or phrase naming an attribute, added to or grammatically related to a noun to modify or describe it.
  • In easier words adjectives are the words that describe nouns!

  • Descriptive adjectives
  • Comparative adjectives
  • Superlative adjectives
  • Proper adjectives
  • Demonstrative adjectives

HOW TO FIND ADJECTIVES

  • If you look for the Noun in the sentence before it there is either a verb or another word. The word before the noun that is describing the noun is the adjective.

DESCRIPTIVE ADJECTIVES

  • The largest class of adjectives.
  • They are about aspects such as feeling, time, sound, quantity, taste, appearance, size, age, color, shape, and material.
  • Here are some examples: blue, old, rough, large, multiple, etc.

COMPARATIVE AND SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES

  • Comparative adjectives are used to compare two things.
  • Superlative adjectives compare three or more things.
  • Comparative adjective examples: better, worse, healthier, etc.
  • Superlative adjective examples:
  • Best, worst, healthiest, etc.

  • A proper adjective is an adjective, typically capitalized, derived from a proper noun.

DEMONSTRATIVE ADJECTIVES

  • Demonstrative adjectives are adjectives that are used to modify a noun so that we know which specific person, place, thing, or concept is mentioned.

  • Interrogative adjectives are adjectives that are used to ask questions.
  • Such as which, how, or what.
