You acquire the benefits of Social security if you are a disabled worker, widower, retired worker, child of retired worker, etc.

Drawbacks-
If you do not qualify for the social security, you will not receive the earnings. Also, immigrants who arrive in the country late who do not have a steady work history will not receive the benefits.
