PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Happiness is Better Than Wisdom

By Veronica Villegas

The Cost of Wisdom

To be happy is better than to be wise for wisdom only brought problems to some of the greatest philosophers of history, even cost them their lives.

The perfect example of the cost of wisdom is the legendary Socrates.
"Socrates' irreverence offended a number of powerful men in Athens"(Palmer 30).
It was said that he was arrested and judged with crimes of impiety, false doctrine, and corrupting the youth (Palmer 30)

Ignorance is Happiness

Only ignorant people are happy because they do not have knowledge of reality and it is better that way.

Wisdom does not lead to Happiness

The more knowledge is obtained, the less happy the person will be.

The study of wisdom has driven masterminds to the verge of insanity.

Insane Theories

  • Berkeley and Descartes claimed that their two favorite terms "God" and "self "were none-existent categories (Palmer 90).
