Miracles

by Oscar Recinos

Why, who makes much of a miracle?
As to me I know of nothing else but miracles,

Whether I walk the streets of Denver,

Or enjoy the mountains trails,

Or get to see the ones I love,

Or enjoy my ride to my location and to get there safe,

Or be able to have a meal,

Or sit around the dinner table with the rest,

Or have a job that proves,

Or watch little ones grow up in the family,

Or have a roof over my head,

Or be able to stay warm during the harsh Colorado winter,

Or watch the beautiful sunset,

Or take a deep breath and seek all the beautiful things this world has to offer;

These with the rest, one and all, are to me miracles,
The whole referring, yet each distinct and in its place.

To me waking up every morning and breathing is a miracle,

Every small grain of mustard is a miracle,

Every square yard of the surface of the earth is spread with the same,
Every foot of the interior swarms with the same.

To me a waterfall is a continual miracle,

The sun that brightened our day, the moon that shines our night, the majestic landscapes of this world.
