Once Anubis was the god of the underworld
He was in charge of overseeing the mummification process
Anubis was also considered the guide and protector of the dead

There are many different myths on how Anubis came to be
His mother is either Isis, Nephthys, or Skhment
His father is either Ra, Set, or Osiris
Some even older texts suggest his parents were Hesat and Mnevis

In all ancient texts known, Anubis has the head of a jackal
His body is the most debated physical quality
Some texts say he had a jackal's body as well
While other texts say he was a Theriocephaly

MUMMIFICATION
The care of the dead is Anubis' most important role
According to myth, Anubis created mummification
Anubis appears many times in the Book of the Dead
He is charge of the mummification process
Anubis also is in charge of The Weighing of the Heart
