BEFORE THE DESTRUCTION
The city of Pompeii was an ancient Roman town-city near modern Naples.
There was an active volcano on the island called Mount Vesuvius.
There was a population of 15,000 before the destruction.

DURING THE DESTRUCTION
The first phase during the eruption they evacuated artifacts considered
Suitable for the private collection of the bourdon King Charles the third.
They transported them to Napels.
The ashes from the volcano covered the city

RESTORATION
The restoration hasnt been fully restored.
It costs 142.05 million to get it fully restored.
It should be completed by the end of 2015.
The volcanic ash helped preserved the gowns villas, market places,
Paved streets and temples.

POMPEII TODAY
The volcanic ashes completely covered the city,preserving the bulidings.
People had forgotten that Pompeii even existed, and it lay buried under ground.
In 1748 the excavtion of pompeii was begun and it archaeologists are still working.
Many of the bulidings of pompeii uncovered by archaeologists were in good conditions.
Pompeii is now a major tourist attraction and it attracts over 2 million visitors every year.

FACTS ABOUT POMPEII
The city of Pompeii was built by the foot of the volcano, Mount Vesuvius.
Volcanic ashes completely covered the city, covering the buildings.
The city of Pompeii did not know that Vesuvius was a volcano, as it hadn’t erupted in 1,800 years
Of the 15,000 population, an estimated only 2,000 died in the disaster.
The city was covered in ash untill 1748, when workers building King Charles III palace stumbled upon it.
