MUHAMMAD'S EARLY LIFE

BIRTH AND INFANCY

• Born in the year 570 in a town named Mecca
• He was an only child
• His father died before he was born
• He became an orphan at the age of 6
• He was placed in the protection of his grandpa then his uncle

TEENAGER YEARS

• He worked as a shepard to help
• He traveled with merchants to trade centers
• Older merchants nicknamed him 'one you can trust'

MARRIAGE/FAMILY LIFE

• He got married at 25 with a 40 year old woman
• They had 6 children
• 2 Died when they were young
• They lived in a well off trading center

FIRST REVELATION

• He began making long trips to the mountains
• He meditated and fasted
• He was visited by a presence
• It told him to recite words of such beauty and force
• He took this message public

HIS FINAL YEARS

• He performed many pilgramages
• Within a hundred years, his teaching spread
• During his last one, tens of thousands joined

HIS MESSAGE

• His word became the Qur'an
• He wrote islam's sacred scripture
• He started to build the first muslim city
