JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The job of an interior designer is to transform a room or space.
  • The designer must design a layout that accomplishes the purpose for the room.
  • The designer must also make the design pleasing to the eye.

SKILLS NEEDED

  • Interior designers must be able to measure a room.
  • They must also be able to draw sketches to scale.
  • They must be aware of current furniture trends.
  • Finally, they must be able to interact with a customer.

LOCATION

  • An interior designer works in family homes.
  • The designer might also work for a business or school.

  • Must have an interest in design
  • Interior design school

MATH EXAMPLE DESCRIPTION

  • Interior designers use math when measuring a room to fit furniture.
  • For example, a room measures 85 feet long and 23 feet wide.
  • The designer must figure out what the area of the room is.
  • Then the designer must measure each piece of furniture to see if it will all fit.

  • What is the area of the room?
  • If each couch is 40 square feet,
  • How many couches will fit in the room?
