• Mountjoy has over 590 inmates making it Ireland's largest prison
• Mountjoy is classed as a medium risk prison
• The current prison governor is brian Murphy
• The prison houses a lot of Dublin gang members
• The prison was founded in 1850

DANGEROUS INMATES

• Warren dumbrell ringer leader in 1997 siege in which prison officers where held hostage
• Patrick irwin is the leader of a drug gang and is currently serving a Severn year sentence for possession of cocaine and another three for breaking a Garda sgts jaw
• Lee McDonnell has escaped from a prison van seriously injuring three prison officers and has escape a court holding cell he is also a well known gang member and is doing time for armed robbery
