Substitution
Direct substitution with a tech tool "with no functional change (M,C,. 2013)"
Example: Google Docs Substituted for MS Word

Augmentation
Substitution with more functions than original tool.
Example: Google Docs has cloud saving and sharing tools

Modification
The technology tool used allows for "significant task redesign ("SAMR Model Explained for Teachers ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning," n.d.)."
Example - Instead of individual written essay, students collaborate with each other in real time on google docs to co-write the essay.

Redefinition
The technology tool used allows for "creation of new tasks" previously "not conceivable"("SAMR Model Explained for Teachers ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning," n.d.).
