  • Mount joy has an operational capacity of 554 prisoners

THE MOUNTJOY HELICOPTER ESCAPE

  • The mount joy helicopter escape occurred on the 31st of October 1973 when three provisional ira volunteers escaped aboard a hijacked alouette II
  • The helicopter landed briefly in the courtyard before escaping
  • A manhunt began involving twenty thousand members of the Irish defence forces and the Garda síochanà

  • Portlaoise is a closed high security prison for adult males.it is the commitall prison for those sent to custody from the special criminal court

DO THEY WORK

  • In my opinion prisons work very well in Ireland as they keep Ireland's most dangerous in security and away from civilians
