How do we measure electricity?

Photo by charlesdyer

The size of electric current is measured in amperes or amps

Photo by grotos

Size of the current depends on the number of electrons flowing or moving through the circuit

Photo by james_clear

more electrons=larger current
fewer electrons=smaller current

Volts measure the pressure under which current flows

higher voltage=more force or pressure

Power is the rate at which work is done or energy is used.
Electric power is measured in watts

P= V I
power = voltage (current)
watts = volts (amps)

Ohms measure the resistance or opposition to flow

Photo by Harout's Lens

Resistance is the force that tries to stop or slow the flow of electrons

Ohm's law is the relationship between amps, ohms, and volts

Photo by adafruit

current=voltage/resistance
I = V/R
voltage=current x resistance
V = I x R
resistance=voltage/current
R = V/I
