1. INTRO.

• The Sundial is a type of device that tells time.
• It makes use of the sun.
• Depending where the sun is, it casts a shadow onto the plate of the sundial therefore, tell the time of the day.
• The Egyptians were the first one to use the sundial in 1500 BC.

PARTS OF A SUNIAL

• The gnomon is the part of the sundial that casts a shadow called a style therefore, telling the time.
• The dial is the part of the sundial that has either Roman numeral or regular numbers.
