The first amendment is important because it allows us to express our views freely without fear of retaliation from the government and it is the foundation of all the amendments

HISTORY

  • Vermont became the 14th state when the first amendment was written
  • It was written because citizens demanded a guarantee of their freedoms
  • Virginia ratified the first 10 amendments in 1791 (Bill of Rights)

ARGUMENT

  • The first amendment makes the US citizens feel like they are part of the government and protects their freedoms
  • It is very important because we wouldn't be able to choose our religion or speak freely without it

You should vote for the first amendment because it protects our most important political and personal rights
