1766 B.C.-1122 B.C./A MONUMENTAL ARCHITECTURE IS SOMETHING THAT SYMBOLIZES POWER

A STATUE REPRESENTATION OF THE BRONZE AGE CIVILIZATION

  • This statue was created to represent the Bronze Age civilization.
  • This is a statue that represents the Shang dynasty.
  • The Shang dynasty was the only Bronze Age civilization.

ORACLE BONE INSCRIPTIONS

  • Oracle bone inscriptions started when the Shang family ruled.
  • They were used to give answers to questions.
  • In order to do that they used a bronze hot rod producing cracks which were answers.
  • It also helped them decide what to do when faced with difficult situations.

FORBIDDEN CITY

  • It became known as the forbidden city because it was built to protect the emperor.
  • The forbidden city is an example of the Shang dynasty's architectural principle.
  • For 500 years ordinary people were not allowed in the grounds of the forbidden city.

BROZE VESSEL

  • This is a ritual bronze vessel made during the Shang dynasty.
  • It was used to offer food or drinks to gods,deceased ancestors and spirits.
  • They were also used to symbolize ranks and often contained references to ancient imperial ethos,culture and music.
