  • Originally founded by Muhammad
  • The first group of Sunni Muslims believed that Abu Bahkr was the first caliph of Muhammad

  • Maturidi-Founded by Abu Mansur al-Maturidi
  • Ash'ari-Founded by Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari
  • Athari-No orignal founder

Maturidi

  • Originally small following
  • Gained followers when the new beliefs spread to Turkish tribes
  • Believed in the Shafi'i school and Maturidi creed

Athari

  • Believes in a more literal sense of the Quran
  • Believes in the School of Jurisprudence

Ash'ari

  • The most accepted form of Islam
  • Believes in finding the best attributes of Allah from the Quran

Relation to other Religions

  • The second half of the two major parts of islam
  • Much conflict with Shia Islam
  • Has created tension between countries with separate beliefs and has even started civil war

  • Makes up to 80% of Muslims
