WHAT IS PHYSICAL CHANGE

  • When an object changes form but is still the same matter.
  • This can be from crushing, heating, cooling etc.
  • Example: Water changing to ice.
  • Why: Water and ice are the same material, the water just froze.
  • Some physical changes can go the opposite way.

WHAT IS CHEMICAL CHANGE

  • When a chemical takes 2 substances and turns them into another.
  • Example: Diet Coke and Mentos.
  • Why: Chemicals in the coke react with the mento.
  • This created a chemical reaction.
  • Chemical changes can't be reversed.

CHEMICAL CHANGE MAKES THINGS...

  • Chemical change can make something...
  • Bubbly or flat
  • Smooth or bumpy
  • Hot or cold
  • Different colors
