1.
MOON PHASES
NEVER THE SAME IN ABOUT 27.3 DAYS.
JDB Sound Photography
2.
Moon phases happen because the earth's moon has a lighten side from the sun, and a dimmed side.

3.
The moon's first stage is called the NEW MOON, when the moon looks completely blended-in with the sky.

4.
The next stage is a CRESCENT MOON, which is a slither of moon that looks like a banana!

5.
Then comes the HALF MOON, which is half of the moon, and the orbit is a quarter done or quarter away from a complete orbit.

6.
The next is GIBBUS MOON, when it is more than the half moon/ quarter moon when the moon is completely a full circle, it's a FULL MOON.

CJ Isherwood
7.
As the moon orbits the earth, it waxes, or grows. Once past the FULL MOON, I it wanes, or shrinks.

8.
The moon has completed half-orbit. Now, the order goes (FULL, GIBBUS, HALF, CRESCENT, NEW) instead the other way around in the other orbit.

9.
Shadows don't effect the moon phases, since the moon is slightly oval shape and there is a 5° angle difference.
