• The Shahada first thing infant hears at birth
• Last thing Muslim hears before death (if possible)

Salat

• Call to prayer (by muezzin)
• Have to face toward Kaa’ba in Mecca
• Prayer is the proof of Islam
• Wudu before prayer and have to be in clean area
• Men and women stand separate

Zakat

Zakat

• Provides for fountains, soup kitchens, inns, etc.
• 2.5% of surplus wealth (or more)
• Pays off others loans/debt
• Provides shelter, helps fees
• Give the money to religious system or self distribution

Sawm

Sawm

• Pregnant, young, sick, elderly don’t have to fast
• Fasting at start of morning until setting of sun
• Month when Gabriel came to cave
• End of month is Eid ul-Fitr
• Prayer during end of Ramadan equal to thousand months prayer

HAJJ

Hajj

• Change clothes (men-Ihram women-modest)
• Pray and camp at Mt. Arafat
• Circle Kaa’ba 7 times
• Run between two hills; drink from Zamzam
• Throw stones at 3 pillars
