WHAT IS PTSD?

  • PTSD or post dramatic stress disorder is a mental health problem where one re-experiences the trauma through intrusive distressing recollections of the event, flashbacks, and nightmares.

HISTORY OF PTSD

  • In 1919 after WW1 soldiers were experiencing shock. Back then this was know as "shell shock"
  • This would later be known as PTSD

WHY DO SOLDIERS MORE COMMONLY GET PTSD?

  • 1 in 8 Soldiers who return home suffer from PTSD
  • Soldiers more commonly get it as they are exposed to combat and furthermore those who inflect hard are more likely to see signs of PTSD.

PTSD TODAY

  • A modern example of sever PTSD comes from the tragic story of US sniper Chris Kyle.
  • In the novel and movie, Chris has sever PTSD where even small things make him snap after serving 4 tours in Iraq. Hearing loud and instant noises and barking dogs made him very paranoid.
  • This sad story also shows how PTSD can affect family members and his wife and friends became afraid of him in some cases.

SYMPTOMS OF PTSD

  • Common symptoms include emotional detachments, nightmares or panic attacks, agitation or hostility, and depression. However it is not limited to these. Furthermore soldiers who have being in stressful environments are more likely to feel this way over those who haven't being exposed to stressful situations.

TREATMENTS

  • Treatments include:
  • Therapy
  • Medications
  • Specialists

NATURE VS NUTURE

  • The reason why some soldiers get affected more easily is because of nurture as they are exposed to bad environments.
  • With nature the argument is that soldiers get affected because of their environment they have being put in.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion PTSD is a very serious condition from passed troubling accidents.
