Asking for information

  • When a student asks about vocabulary, or "How do I say..." encourage them to guess, or ask another student
  • When they find the answer themselves it is often easier to recall in the future
  • Eliciting sets good habits. It trains students to use their previous knowledge and clues from their first language to find the answer on their own.

Use visuals as hints

Know when to stop and give the answer. Usually after prolonged silence and several incorrect answers.
