Life

  • Sitting Bull was born on 1830 and died in 1890
  • He was the tribal chief during the resistance against the US Government
  • He had four wives and four kids.
  • He was a holy man
  • Sitting Bull inspired the victory against Custer at Custer's Last Stand
  • He was shot and killed when the government officials tried to arrest him

Resisting White Settlement

  • Sitting Bull had visions of white men falling off of horses.
  • Because of this vision, he led the attack on General Custer's men.
  • Sitting Bull did not sign the Treaty of Fort Laramie
  • He was a main leader of Native resistance
  • He obviously hated reservation life once he was forced to the reservation

Treatment by Government

  • The government treating Sitting Bull poorly because he lead many battles such as the Battle of Little Bighorn.
  • They feared he would lead the Ghost Dance Movement
  • Because of this, they sent to arrest him.
  • A scuffle occurred, and the brawl ended with Sitting Bull being shot.
