WHY DOES BREAKING MORALS

DAMAGE REASONING?

The article, “Unpacking the paradoxical impact of ethical leadership on employees’ pro-social rule-breaking behavior: The interplay of employees’ psychological capital and moral identity,” by Mushtaq Ahmed and Muhammad Ishfaq Khan, discusses a study that delves into the dynamics of ethical leadership influence on employees’ pro-social rule-breaking behavior, taking into account the mediating role of psychological capital and moderating effect of moral identity. With the data collected, the study had unexpected results. I found the article on Proquest.

WHAT IS EL?

(ETHICAL LEADERSHIP)
EL in the article is defined as a, “demonstration of normatively appropriate conduct through personal actions and interpersonal relationships, and the promotion of such conduct to followers through two-way communication, reinforcement, and decision-making,” (Ahmed 1). It influences employee behavior by fostering integrity and ethical conduct. Ethical leaders make decisions considering welfare of stakeholders and embrace corporate social responsibility. It deters unethical behavior and contributes to long-term success by fostering ethical practices and responsible decision-making.

WHAT IS PSRB?

(PRO-SOCIAL RULE-BREAKING)
PSRB in the article is, “a type of constructive deviance where employees intentionally violate organizational policies to benefit organizational stakeholders,” (Ahmed 1). In relation to the actions of the main character, this would be a way to describe the ethical actions she takes throughout the series, she has little morals to her decisions because it might hold her back. She kills so many people to gain what she needs and she wants to jump the gun when she needs to make a plan.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS OF THE RELATIONSHIP between EL AND PSRB?

SCT has an emphasis on the dynamic relationship between individuals and the environment they are in. Depending on the kind of environment they are in, “Employees not only passively receive influence but actively contribute to their surroundings. In the context of EL, employees’ behaviors, including their engagement in PSRB, can influence the leadership they encounter,” (Ahmed 1). If the ethical leader values and their PSRB is supported, the perception may reinforce and encourage the behavior. In comparison to this, the main character is the leader to her partner in crime. Her partner in crime will help with the work, but has boundaries and rules for himself to keep morals without losing himself, so he calls out the places where she isn’t good and doesn’t encourage everything she does because he recognizes that she’s losing a lot of herself through what she’s doing.
