TYPE 1

  • This form of diabetes is diagnosed in children and young adults
  • Your body does not produce insulin at all
  • It makes up 10% of all diabetics
  • Must receive insulin injections

TYPE 1 SYMPTOMS

  • When blood sugar is very high the symptoms are
  • Deep rapid breathing, dry skin,
  • Flushed face, nausea, vomitting, and stomach pain

TYPE 2

  • Type 2 Is more common than type 1 making up 90% of diabetics
  • This form is when your body can not produce enough insulin
  • chronic disease in which people have problems regulating their blood sugar

TYPE 2 SYMPTOMS

  • Increased thirst and frequent urination.
  • Increased hunger, Weight loss, Fatigue, Blurred vision,
  • Cuts and bruises dont heal as fast
  • Darkened skin areas

GESTATIONAL DIABETES

  • This form happens to women who are pregnant
  • Between two and ten percent of mothers develope this condition
  • During pregnacy the hormonal changes make insulin less responsive
  • Undiagnosed the child could be born larger than it should be

SIGNS OF DEVELOPING GESTATIONAL DIABETES

  • If she is overwieght or obese
  • If there is any history of it in the family
  • If there is sugar in her urine
  • High blood preasure

HOW DIABETES EFFECTS YOUR HEALTH

  • Diabeties is diagnosed when a persons sugar is to high
  • This can lead to stroke or heart attack
  • complications can be prevented or delayed by healthy dieting and exercising

WAYS TO HELP WITH DIABETES

  • Simply by having a good diet
  • Make a diabetes meal plan
  • Choose foods that are lower in calories,saturated fat,trans fat,sugar, and salt
  • Eat foods with more fiber, such as whole grain cereals, breads, crackers, or pasta
  • Make sure to exercise

WHAT IS INSULIN

  • Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches into energy
  • It is produced in the pancreas which regulates glucose in the blood
