FACTS ABOUT AUTOMOBILES

  • Automobiles produced during the 20s greatly affected transportation.
  • Automobiles made transportation quicker and efficient.
  • Automobiles connected urban areas, cities, suburbs, and the rural areas.
  • Most of the new automobiles were affordable for different classes of Americans .
  • Through mass production these automobiles became affordable.

ADAPTING TO AUTOMOBILES

  • Before the 1920s roads were designed for horse transportation
  • As the 1920s came around, Horse designed roads began to deteriorate due to increases in loads of traffic
  • Funding problems were experienced in attempt to building suitable motor roads for these automobiles.
  • To solve this problem, in 1929 all the states introduced a Gas tax.
  • This tax varied from two to five cents a gallon.

HENRY FORD

  • In 1903 Henry Ford established the Ford Motor company.
  • Ford produced their first automobile in 1908, known as the Model T
  • Ford introduced the use of interchangeable parts and revolutionary mass production
  • In 1913, Henry Ford formed the world's first moving assembly line.
  • Through mass production within this line, the Model became more affordable.
